Hello everyone! I haven't really been updating...sorry about that. I guess you could justify that by saying that I really wanted everyone to get a chance to read that exerpt from HBP (see previous entry)...there's so many things that can mean.
Ok...by now there's a lot of new news....most of it regarding JK's site and new updates. If you haven't checked the FAQ in a while, then that's definitely the place to go; there are tons of new questions there that she has answered.
I'll sum the main ones up, but for more details go to www.jkrowling.com . Just a reminder: JK Rowling is the one who owns these questions and characters and answers, and I am not directly copying them. I have paraphrased these from her site and they belong to her.
1) Yes, JK does like the character Sirius Black, but she does not "find him wholly wonderful". She says that because of his long stay in Azkaban, he is slightly unbalanced, and also that he did not have the chance to completely grow up. This is why Lupin is much more mature, even though they are the same age. JK also says that "Sirius's great redeeming quality is how much affection he is capable of feeling". Awww....
2)Any heads of houses or house ghosts were definitely in that house. For example, Snape was in Slytherin, as was the Bloody Baron.
3) Peeves has the ability to chew gum while Nick can't eat food, because Peeves is not a ghost. He was, in fact, never a living person....just "an indestructable spirit of chaos".
4) THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ONE!!!! The question was: "Are you going to kill any more characters?". JK answered with a simple "Yes. Sorry." Everyone feel free to post a comment on who you think she is going to kill!!! I love hearing all the theories!
5) JK does not believe in fate; she instead believes in hard work and luck (and that hard work leads to luck).
6) No, Fred and George did not get their names from the redheaded actors Fred Crane and George Reeves in "Gone with the Wind" (They play a pair of twins in the story). It's only a coincidence.
7) Hedwig was named after St. Hedwig, not Hedvig from "The Wild Duck" (by Henrik Ibsen).
Also very important in the FAQ Section: The newest poll question has been voted on. Here is the Winner: "What did Dumbledore's Howler to Aunt Petunia mean? ('Remember my last') ?"
Her answer gives us a LOT to think about. Basically, Dumbledore was talking about the letter that was left on the Dursley's doorstep with baby Harry. The reason she used "my last" instead of "my letter" is....there were other letters (at least one) before that one. She gave us a hint on this one: The previous letters were just to Petunia, not the entire Dursley family. There is definitely more to Petunia than meets the eye. Again....theories!
A new poll will be coming soon to JK's FAQ section, make sure you vote on the question you want answered.
One more thing (although it won't help you solve any mysteries..) The Caption Contest at www.mugglenet.com is very very amusing. I encourage you all to read the winners and submit your own funny captions. See you later! |
